To provide for the incorporation, registration, organisation and management of companies, the capitalisation of profit companies, and the registration of offices of foreign companies carrying on business within the Republic;
To promote a fair, accessible and sustainable marketplace for consumer products and services and for that purpose to establish national norms and standards relating to consumer protection, to provide for improved standards of consumer information, to prohibit certain unfair marketing and business practices, to promote responsible consumer behaviour, to promote a consistent legislative and enforcement framework relating to consumer transactions and agreements
I, Dr Rob Davies, Minister of Trade and Industry, in terms of and under section 120(1) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 (Act No. 68 of 2008), read together with the respective sections indicated in the regulations below, do hereby make the regulations set out in the schedule hereto.
To promote a fair and non-discriminatory marketplace for access to consumer credit and for that purpose to provide for the general regulation of consumer credit and improved standards of consumer information
A person who applies for registration in terms of section 45 of the Act must submit to the National Credit Regulator
To make provision for procedures and related matters in criminal proceedings.
To consolidate and amend the law relating to Magistrates’ Courts. [NB: The long title has been substituted by s. 73 of the Magistrates’ Courts Amendment Act 120 of 1993, a provision which will be put into operation by proclamation
